Gulf Tensions: UAE Denies Strike on Iranian Desalination Plant

Abu Dhabi refutes reports of involvement in operations against Tehran’s civilian infrastructure, labeling the claims “fake news” while reaffirming its right to self-defense.

Amidst soaring tensions in the Persian Gulf, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has categorically denied reports, initially circulated by Israeli media, alleging that Emirati forces targeted a desalination plant on Iranian territory.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, citing reports from the Anadolu agency, moved to clarify its position to prevent further escalation in the region. The message remains clear: Abu Dhabi has not targeted civilian infrastructure.

The denial was further solidified by Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defense, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council (FNC). In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Al Nuaimi dismissed the reports as “fake news,” stating firmly:
“It is fake news. When we do something, we have the courage to announce it.”

Self-Defense and National Security
Despite the specific denial regarding this incident, the UAE maintains a stance of high alert. The government reiterated that any actions taken fall under the framework of “self-defense” against what it characterizes as “Iranian aggression.”

While stating that they are not seeking an open military conflict or escalation, the United Arab Emirates emphasized that they reserve the “full right” to ensure the security of their territory and citizens.

The situation in the area remains extremely volatile. As the UAE distances itself from unconfirmed operations, the international landscape continues to grow more complex:

The U.S. is closely monitoring the potential deployment of mines by Iran.

President Trump has issued stern warnings to Tehran, threatening “consequences never seen before” should oil routes be blocked.

The White House has reportedly urged Israel to avoid direct strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure to prevent a collapse of global economic stability.
The diplomatic incident surrounding the desalination plant highlights the thin line between information warfare and kinetic conflict in a region where any single move could trigger a massive chain reaction.
