Sudan Conflict: Humanitarian Crisis and Urgent Need for Solutions

Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in an armed conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), triggering an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.

The United Nations has described this situation as “the worst displacement crisis in the world.” More than 12 million people have been forced to flee their homes, seeking refuge either within other regions of Sudan or in neighboring countries such as Egypt, Chad, and South Sudan.

As of today, 30.4 million people – over half of Sudan’s population – are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. The healthcare system is in a state of collapse, with one out of every three hospitals no longer operational. The movement of international aid workers and humanitarian supplies has been severely hindered, further complicating efforts to address the crisis.

In a war economy, basic resources are increasingly scarce. When available, prices for essential goods such as food, fuel, and medicines have become prohibitively expensive, pushing millions of families into even deeper poverty. In 2025, 3.2 million children in Sudan are at risk of suffering from acute malnutrition, while famine continues to spread across various regions of the country.

In response to this dire situation, we are managing projects in key areas such as Khartoum, Nyala, and Port Sudan. These include a heart surgery center, two pediatric clinics, and one pediatric center. Additionally, we are operating a network of cardiology clinics in Kassala, Gedaref, and Atbara, providing vital medical care to the population.

The need for a solution is urgent. The ongoing war and widespread violence must be halted to prevent further bloodshed and suffering. Immediate diplomatic and humanitarian action is crucial to address the crisis and save the lives of millions of people who are at risk. Without swift intervention, the situation in Sudan could deteriorate further, leaving lasting impacts on the country and the entire region.
