French President Emmanuel Macron issued a strong appeal to the international community to maintain clear and constant pressure on Moscow.

In a televised address, Macron emphasized that Russia, under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, does not appear to be seeking genuine peace but rather aiming to secure as many advantages as possible before any negotiations.

“We cannot allow Moscow to continue playing with human lives and the stability of Europe,” Macron stated. “The pressure must be clear, constant, and targeted. Russia does not seem to want peace; it wants to take everything and then negotiate from a position of strength.” The French president reiterated that Europe must be ready to defend its own interests and those of Ukraine, even amid growing uncertainty in transatlantic relations.

Macron also highlighted the need for a stronger, more autonomous Europe, capable of addressing geopolitical challenges without being solely dependent on the United States. He proposed strengthening European defense and expressed openness to extending France’s nuclear deterrence to European partners, while maintaining exclusive control by France.

As the conflict in Ukraine continues to destabilize the region, Macron’s message serves as a call for collective responsibility. According to the French president, the pressure on Moscow is not only a matter of European security but a moral imperative to ensure global peace and stability.
